First Rose (NaPoMo 30)

single rose

As Spring so softly yields to warmer days

The first rose of summer shall bloom alone,

Her loveliness sets the garden ablaze.

The rip’ning world takes on a brighter hue

As queen of May, she dances round the stone

Beneath the cloudless skies of vibrant blue

And all I can do is sit here and gaze

On beauty found within a single rose.

I see the moistened pearl of morning dew

Upon her red petals it takes repose

And I can’t help my dreams that drift to you

For love had come so gently on wind’s blown

My eyes have seen so that my heart now knows

The first rose of summer shall bloom alone

Will and Kate (NaPoMo 29)

will-and-kate4

There is a wedding in old London town

A handsome man and his radiant bride

Ivory silk made up her graceful gown.

A merry throng had gathered in the street

To see the carriage in which they would ride

They cheered to the rhythm of marching feet

The bells are ringing out the happy news

To tell the world a prince now has a wife

With waving flags of red, white and blues

The man who shall be king has found his queen

And together they stand in love and life

As one to face the joys as yet unseen

There is a wedding in old London town

The bells are ringing out the happy news

Circe’s Magic (NaPoMo 28)

Vallejo_Boris_Circe_s_Magic_1991_large

Artwork: Circe’s Magic, Boris Vallejo

I have ne’er changed a man into a beast

But mirror images of his own self

Then that is what the world should see.

A man whom on the suffering doth feast,

Should not be offered the delights of wealth

Yet the sight of him could set others free.

I see the world of man, and wonder why,

he lets the Earth writhe in pain to die.

I see the sun arising in the East

Reflected rays on industrial slick

The shadow trees on lands he’s only leased

He still complains as Nature turns a kick

For Man shall be forever long deceased

Before the Sun denies the world her quick.

A Sign Of Good Taste (NaPoMo 27)

Dedicated to Pietro Ferrero http://thenewsportal.net/?p=891202

His jewel of chocolate delights

In dreams of love dare we behold,

That brings to continental nights

Such luxury enriched with gold.

In deuces rather than an ace

The Monte Carlo cards may fold

His gem will bring a smiling face

Such luxury enriched with gold

Of biking’s tragic final trip

The tears of loss the papers told

His love remains at fingertip

Such luxury enriched with gold

His jewel of chocolate delights

Such luxury enriched with gold.

The Choice (NaPoMo 26)

My Lady taught me well beneath the sky

That mine is not to fear eternal flame

For fear won’t lead me to her realm’s divine.

To fear her words and never ask her why

Condemns my soul with no one else to blame

As choices made, they must truly be mine.

Yet if I hunger for her paradise

She’ll cast me out without a second glance

For I’m not worthy to be at her side.

So I must learn the ways of ancient wise

And let her lead me in her wondrous dance

Across skies, where she is my celestial guide.

I love my Lady for herself, alone

She will not deny me, I am her own.

Sapphire Oceans (NaPoMo 25)

A cooling breeze gently caressed my skin
While watching the sun sink beneath the wave
Each night she comes to gently take me in.

In the twilight I see the love I crave
Where sapphire oceans meet the rocky shore
I see her face that makes my heart stand brave.

And though I have ne’er felt her kiss before
I know my fate is grasped within her hands
For all I yield she will demand much more.

I fear her want yet dance across the sands
To see her face above the worldly din
My confused heart finally understands.

A cooling breeze gently caressed my skin
Each night she comes to gently take me in.

The Very Best Of Enya (CD/DVD)

Chrome Reflections NaPoMo 24

The dew drops mingle with the scented foam,
As foaming orchid kisses trace desire.
She sees my desire reflected in chrome
The falling chrome rain cannot quench our fire,
That same flaming fire that guides my need home
Home; where teased kisses play upon her lyre
As lyre strings vibrate like a honeyed comb
I succumb to the thoughts of her desire.

My one desire to ease her wanton need
In latent streams of need that twist and flow
Where flowing movement feeds the hunger so.
So love demands that we sate lusting greed
In greedy torrent waters we renew
Our knowing passion so long overdue

Tipping the Velvet: A Novel

Paper Sheet (NaPoMo 23)

Literature

A paper sheet; untouched and lily white
An illusion waiting for ink to be born
Of poet’s dreams in sweet rhythm and rhyme
That voices passion for love’s own delight.

The ancient nib in poet’s hand is worn
By words that flow inside the deepest thought
And echo sounds of a bamboo wind chime
From the muse’s scented garden each night.

And though my thoughts of you maybe forlorn
When you are not with me in space and time
I have but words to speak of love and court
Your hand; and plead that you’ll take me as thine

A humble poet seeks your heart’s consort
By pen and ink that form poetic line.

Tafetta, Lace and Silk (NaPoMo 22)

A vow of lies I should never have said,
Two words I wish I’d saved for me and you;
My wasted innocence on the wedding bed
Defiled the words of love that say ‘I do’.
A distant regret now haunts my mind, you see,
While watching you walking down towards me;
My vision of taffeta, lace and silk
Tainted by a past of the devil’s milk.

I seek your smile beneath the bridal veil,
My comfort before promises are made
And I give my heart as regrets now fade.
Later when I sip from your holy grail
And yield to the power of loving spells
I recall the joy of our wedding bells

A Pleasant Plucker’s Mate (NaPoMo 21)

When tears are plucking out my empty sighs
My loyal friend still sits upon my wanting thighs
And waits my hand without no hows and whys
As his taut echoes lift me to the skies.

Even if my songs are lonely and sad
The more I strum the less I feel so bad
My guitar, travels with me o’er this land
And always there to simply take my hand
In this union my heart’s singing, glad
My strumming days weren’t just another fad.

On my journey my voice never denies
In joyful songs of nature’s wondrous highs
The truth of love on which my heart relies
And loneliness once more has lost it’s ties.

Sacred Art (NaPoMo 20)

flower name unknown

Beguiling beauty humbles the proud rose

Her grace, a hidden jewel, caught my eye

And like a whispered love that breezes sigh

Her name is lost in gardens I suppose.

I sort her name from clouds that swept the sky

They had no words to ease my aching heart

So I asked them where my looking should start

And heard that beauty said her sad goodbye.

I looked where hedgerows slowly drift apart

For one brief glimpse of pink I knew no shame

No garden that could hold this beauty tame

I knew she could only be sacred art.

Then I saw her again from whence I came

And learned that Love-Lies-Bleeding is her name .

And all Because… (NaPoMo 19)

The sweetest velvet in a tempting kiss

That coyly hides behind a crispy shell

Yet it beckons one’s heart beat to miss

For delight entices desire to swell

Can a friendship lead to better than this?

Is a single truffle enough to tell

What lies behind an odd poetic mind

Or reveal what Cadbury left behind?

Chocolate dreams that whirl across the sky

Say for the lady a sonnet be writ

In words that Galaxy cannot deny

The NaPoMo prompt was a tasty bit

And if you should be thinking how and why

Hey it is chocolate --- and I love it!

Sakura Memories (NaPoMo 18)

Sweet scented petals descend on the breeze; fragrant farewell,

Memories entwine in rivers of tears; love cannot dispel

Dark clouds obscure the future and the sun in living hell

Temple chimes echo sounds of life passing - a solitary bell.

Cherry blossom heavy with mournful tears for another year

The burden too great yet it is carried in unseen fear

Pink and blue petals falling on ornate oak… they bring no cheer

A white rose alone on the brassy plaque says – I am here

Watching petals fall, silent wishes – they just disappear

Yet in breaths of Sakura sweetened air – I feel you near.

Soft spring winds blow the petals over the vacant dell

With life bring energy and wonder to each blood cell

The scent of honey on blossomy breezy that says all is well

And there is no more pain in the divine – where you dwell.

Within Love (NaPoMo 17)

Alone with tears that burned my eyes I woke,

My soul degraded and torn by the god of man

An alien amid both church and clan

The fragility of self long since broke.

And thus I searched the filthy city smoke

For answers that revealed a greater plan

Like a bridge to cross a meaningless span

Her voice called out to quash my fear, she spoke.

Revealing truth in Nature’s ancient ways

I was like a child, lost and out of sight

Until I learned to pray for her delight.

And though she made me face the end of days

She gave me strength to rise above their scorn

Within her love my soul shall be reborn

Beloved (NaPoMo 16)

Dedicated to my Nain, cara cara

The love you gave me like golden sunshine;

You kept me safe and taught me ways divine,

My rock when only darkness felt like mine

I pray my hand is still held within thine.

Those days, beloved, when I feel all alone

My eyes can’t see; inside my heart it’s known

You have not left me to be on my own

Yet still I wish to hear you on the phone

And while you lie in omnificent grace

I feel a wayward tear touching my face

Beloved I long to reach out for your hand

Once more beside me where e’er I stand

But I must journey on at life’s command

Until we meet again in the Summerland

Woman (NaPoMo 15)

A woman should be gentle, always kind
Yet he held her down to rape her again
Removing the smile that once seemed to glow
The joy of love had long since left behind
A fragile doll that knew only of pain
Who couldn’t see a way or place to go

At his hands her body crumbled to dust;
Inside her voice was calling, soft and low
It kept her mind from going past insane
And she knew she could and she knew she must
Say No!

They say the battle is won; we can rest
The girls of tomorrow have greater clout
They’ll live their lives in freedom’s liberty.
We can do no more, we have done our best
The flags of pride have been slowly rolled out
So they can love with true equality.

But while one woman remains hurt, abused
We must all remain strong not turnabout
No woman should be left to man’s slav’ry
We must not let her be tortured and used
Shout out!

Inside a woman beats a goddess heart
A hidden voice that often calls aloud
But we only hear her when we need her most
And she holds us when our lives fall apart
Or if we choose to walk against the crowd
The presence we feel when all else is lost.

And as we nurture our own children through
To fly as freely as a summer cloud
She nurtures us the same at greater cost
So in all we say and all things we do
Be proud!

Unbekannte Tochter (NaPoMo 14)

1629 a little German girl of 7 years was burned as a witch because she could read

Condemned to flames because we heard her saith
She stood by knowledge she knew was the truth
A child unable to enjoy her youth
What happened to her right to choose her faith

With torture choice was stolen from the world
In blood they forced the Word in fear of flames
And labelled nature’s ways as paths of shame
As heretics into hell they were hurled

Always, we remember the burning times
The name of a god that brought fear and pain
Lest we dare forget and it happen again
O men of the cross we know of your crimes

Condemned to flames because we heard her saith
What happened to her right to choose her faith

You Said (NaPoMo 13)

You said I could not know of love,

You called me a queer, a sham

Unwanted in the realms above

For who I am

My life, no longer worth a damn

I called your name, you looked away,

I’m sick, you say, that’s’ what I am

Because I’m gay

I did not choose to be this way

I can’t pretend that I am straight

For life is not a game we play

Nor will it wait

If only I could make you see

I am still me

Lebensraum (NaPoMo 12)

To find the place where gods reside; just look
Into a candle’s solitary flame
And listen for their voice to call your name
Within the self, and there you’ll find their nook.

This place is never found in any book,
Or in the words an aging priest may preach,
That which is divine is in easy reach
Within the self, and there you’ll find a nook

The path is scattered with all you mistook
The way is cluttered with those tempting things
But when the heart finds truth it simply sings
Within the self, and there you’ll find a nook

To find the place where gods reside; just look
Within the self, and there you’ll find their nook

Surfing (NaPoMo 11)

Sweet love is like the ocean’s surging tide,

And, alas, not always the smoothest ride,

But where the land shall meet the turbid sea

Is where I lay my heart in foolish pride.

In love there is no place I’d rather be,

For passion thrives in wanton liberty

It cannot grow when tied to safer ground

A heart can only know love if it’s free.

A rolling wave that makes no other sound,

Can leave me wanting, needing to be found

Enticing me to climb it’s mighty height

In certainty, I will be surely drowned

And left like a corpse to the endless night,

But when the heart rules, the mind’s never right.

Yet in the salty breeze the flames ignite,

Empowered senses see no pain or rust,

As once again they are deceived by lust

Instinctive reactions have far more trust

In the heat of the moment, I’ve no cares

For love can only come to she who dares!

Holy Unity (NaPoMo 10)

When seeking visions of divinity

Upon my knees in silence I am found

In the solace of holy unity

I pray, yet ne’er do I utter a sound.

I open my heart to her words profound

As in silence I walk on hallowed ground

I sit beside her neath the open sky

We talk of all the how, when, where and why

Then in silence she will whisper goodbye

The time has come to leave; return to life

I feel, I do not need to weep or cry

But strong enough to face my earthly strife

I feel her presence ever by my side

In silence her love cannot be denied

Turning Point (NaPoMo 9)

Dedicated to the goddess, Cerridwen

In solitude they left me all alone,

No one to wipe my tears or hear my prayer;

I felt them leave me to the darkest night,

My strength of pride could not confess my fright,

Believing there was no one left to care

Their sacred heart had long since turned to stone.

In loneliness I found the time to think,

To look for answers that made sense of me,

Within darkness I saw thy silver ray,

The beckoning light that leads me thy way,

And in the distance I saw destiny,

My goddess saved me from destruction’s brink.

Now I know, when I see the moon above,

My destiny; your legacy of love.

Avebury Air (NaPoMo 8)

Avebury 1

The place where living dances with the dead,

Spirits gather to hear what wise ones said,

The mysteries that joins the heart and head

Are never lost in ritualistic stead.

In this, a sacred place of weathered stone

Where I can be but I’m never alone

With ancient spirits that I call my own

My soul can reach beyond mere flesh and bone.

It’s here where nature shall reveal her face

And touch my wanting heart with loving grace

As I kneel and pray in her sacred space.

Recalling those before that tasted wine

I’m not alone as Lady, I am thine

And now my lips can taste thy sacred wine

Silent my thoughts to touch your sweet divine

A Friend (NaPoMo 7)

Stale smoke reminds me that you once were here,

Our laughter once echoed into the night

As teenage dreams mingled with wine and beer

And rebellion became a cause to fight.

Between the lines I was feeling so tight

In so-called love; you were stealing my mind,

My only friend you made my world alright

I could no longer feel or look behind

But reality speaks and you were not kind

I trusted you yet you were not my friend

In your hands there was no me left to find

With you my life was drawing to an end.

The only release from this tormenting pain

To say no more to the hell of cocaine!

Inside Darkness (NaPoMo 6)

Inside the statued gardens where tears fall

The final words before eternal flame

That stand alone to face the grief and shame

Nowhere to hide the soul must bare its all.

All wrongs in deed and word, both large and small

Lie naked in the darkness at time’s end;

No silken cloth can hide as fears defend

Yet here, this place, is where I hear her call.

When in my shame she gives me ways of hope

The chance to see there is a better way

Inside darkness there is a brighter scope

I place my soul to her silvery ray.

And now I know she is there, by my side

For it is her destiny I must ride.

Resurrection (NaPoMo 5)

The rain is crying outside the steel gates;
Inside there is no loving forgiveness
As evil dines on our righteous progress
We’re naught but pawns as love disintegrates.

The father sky sheds tears of pure duress
His naked bride is torn of all but pride
As pious men dictate the unwanted fates
Such virtue with no god to e’er impress.

Can divine light return where death awaits?
The Sun shall shine once more upon this place
And bring the world from lies that nurtured pain
Returning truth and love where it’s denied
He brings his bride to dance within the rain
And defiant smiles shall define her face.

The Gift (NaPoMo Sonnet 4)

Empowerment begins within myself,
The right to love whoever I may choose
Is only mine if I can love myself,
Otherwise I am always doomed to lose.

My strength, from knowing who I really am,
To stand with pride against the tides of hate;
And hateful words no longer hurt or damn
When my feminine power holds my fate.

I am independent of all I fear,
I can and will stand on my own two feet,
The goddess inside that holds me as dear
And I can dance to my own special beat.

For when my soul stumbles and needs a lift
This, my power, is the most precious gift.

Her Dragon Heart (NaPoMo Sonnet 3)

rosedrg

Her breath of fire that lights the flame
Of love; her heart has staked its claim.
A mystery held in the night
Resolved in passions of delight.

Her breath of fire incites my soul
So destiny becomes my whole.
In her power, this simple boi,
Can know of all that’s love and joy.

If only I could help her see
There is a place she can be free.
A place where sacred dragons fly
And love can hear an angel sigh.

In this sweet mountain home of mine
I’d show her love and all divine.

NaPoMo Sonnet 2

Sensual Musk

The dancing daffodils are smiling here

They spread the word of life in springtime’s light

While nature speaks of love within her sight.

The rabbits chase across the fields with cheer

Without question and flirting in the warming dusk

Amid the scent of fresh and sensual musk.

The chill of winter’s night and days austere

That froze the cleansing water on the weir

It’s fading into distant mist filled dreams

As love has found you in its cosmic streams

With ev’ry breath I feel you drawing near.

My heart protests it has no worthiness

To see your smile or touch your loveliness

In you I breathe again with love not fear.

NaPoMo Sonnet 1

The scented garden where I wait for you
I sit and watch the fairies come to play
And hear them sing their ancient songs of May
Beneath the pretty bells of velvet blue.

My ragged jeans are wet from early dew
The moistness cooling down the springtide ray
And like intoxicating fairy brew
I wait in wonder for the sight of you.

For love alone is blessed on this, our day
By fairy’s wand that casts a golden hue.

In this our garden I will always stay
Within your heart that gives my soul its cue
To say those words here, where the fairies play
In love my heart is yours, forever true.
